Audax Private Equity Voted Mid-Market Firm of the Year in North America for Second Consecutive Year

MAR 2024

BOSTON & SAN FRANCISCO - Audax Private Equity (“Audax”), a capital partner for middle and lower middle market companies that seeks to facilitate transformational growth, was recognized as the “Mid-Market Firm of the Year, North America,” in the 2023 PEI Awards. This recognition, determined through a vote of industry peers and practitioners, marks the second year in a row that Audax Private Equity has received this honor.

“Our mission at Audax is to help evolve middle market companies into industry-leading enterprises; ultimately, we measure success through our portfolio companies’ ability to grow and thrive long after our ownership,” noted Keith Palumbo, Partner and Co-President of Audax Private Equity. “We’re truly honored to receive this distinction. It’s a testament to our entire organization, but it wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of our management teams, the sense of collaboration we share with our deal partners, and the ongoing support of our investors.”

The PEI Awards is one of the only award programs across the broader private capital asset class determined by a survey of industry professionals and investors. The results are shared in the March issue of Private Equity International.

“We’re certainly proud of our recent accomplishments and honored to have received this distinction in consecutive years,” added Young Lee, Partner and Co-President of Audax Private Equity. “Our success stems from the investments we’ve made over 25 years to continually scale our organization to create a differentiated and value-added partner to our portfolio companies, our middle market network, and our investors.”

Being named “Mid-Market Firm of the Year, North America” represents the latest honor for Audax Private Equity in 2024. Earlier this year, the firm was recognized in the latest ‘Top-Decile’ global ranking of large private equity firms published by HEC Paris-Dow Jones; was ranked as the No. 2 most active private equity firm in the U.S. in PitchBook’s 2023 Annual League Tables (released earlier in February); and, for the second consecutive year, was named among the Top 50 Private Equity Firms for Executives, compiled by PrivateEquityCXO and Falcon Partners.

The HEC Paris-Dow Jones Private Equity Performance Ranking is an annual quantitative performance ranking compiled by HEC Paris strategy professor Oliver Gottschalg and published each year by HEC Paris Business School and Dow Jones. The ranking uses performance data, as of September 2023, from Preqin or provided directly to HEC for the purpose of the performance rankings. The organizers base their rankings on IRR, DPI and TVPI data, both, as absolute values and as measured against the corresponding benchmark, looking at the aggregate performance of buyout funds raised between 2010 and 2019. PitchBook’s 2023 Global League Tables was published on February 23, 2024 and updated on February 28, 2024. All league tables included in PitchBook’s rankings are compiled using the count of completed deals for the specified deal type, region and other criteria. Only publicly disclosed transactions and/or transactions confirmed by PitchBook’s primary research team are included. For private equity, the rankings include all PE investment types (buyouts as tracked by PitchBook, growth and investor buyouts by management), excluding real estate investments. Top 50 PE Firms for Executives, published by Private Equity CXO and Falcon was determined through a selection process that included a survey of more than 1,000 sponsor-backed executives from May 2023 through September 2023.
