Audax Private Equity Named Among Top 20 PE Firms in 2023 HEC Paris-Dow Jones Large Buyout Performance Ranking

FEB 2024

BOSTON and SAN FRANCISCO – February 7, 2023 – Audax Private Equity (“Audax”), a capital partner for middle and lower middle market companies that seeks to facilitate transformational growth, was recognized in the latest global ranking of large private equity (“PE”) firms published by HEC Paris-Dow Jones. The listing – The ‘Top Decile’ Worldwide Ranking: Top 20 out of 632 PE Firms – is based on the aggregate performance of buyout funds raised between 2010 and 2019.

“We are truly honored to be included in this ranking, which we’ve always held in high regard,” said Young Lee, Partner and Co-President of Audax Private Equity. “This recognition is a testament, first, to our people, as we’ve always embraced a team-approach. But it also speaks to our broader network and relationships across the industry, which are centered around collaboration and trust built over the past 25 years.”

The HEC Paris-Dow Jones ranking represents the latest honor for Audax Private Equity. Over the past 12 months, Audax was voted Mid-Market Firm of the Year in North America in the 2022 Private Equity International (“PEI”) Awards and was also voted among the “Best of the Best” private equity firms in the mid-cap category by South Korean institutional investors surveyed by The Korea Economic Daily, Global Edition (“KED Global”). Audax Private Equity Fund VI was also ranked among the top five funds over $1 billion in size in Preqin’s 2023 ranking of the Top Performing Funds by Net IRR.

“Our persistence stems from the investments we’ve made in our platform, as well as our dedication to the Buy & Build approach,” added Keith Palumbo, Partner and Co-President of Audax Private Equity. “Our steadfast focus on the middle and lower middle market, and attention to consistent execution, provides the foundation that underpins our investment strategy and our persistent performance.”

The HEC Paris-Dow Jones Private Equity Performance Ranking is an annual quantitative performance ranking compiled by HEC Paris strategy professor Oliver Gottschalg (holder of the school’s Antin IP Chair on Private Equity and Infrastructure) and published each year by HEC Paris Business School and Dow Jones. The ranking uses performance data, as of September 2023, from Preqin or provided directly to HEC for the purpose of the performance rankings. The organizers base their rankings on IRR, DPI and TVPI data, both, as absolute values and as measured against the corresponding benchmark, and deploy a proprietary statistical method that considers the empirically-derived historical reliability of performance measured at a given “fund age” as weights.
