Integrated Supply Network

Summary

Executed eight add-on acquisitions expanding ISN into new geographies, sales channels, and adjacent product categories.

Background

Headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, Integrated Supply Network (“ISN” or, the “Company”) is one of the nation’s largest independent automotive tool and equipment specialists, serving wholesalers and distributors throughout North America and the United Kingdom.

Challenge

Although ISN was one of the largest independent aftermarket tool distributors in the United States when Audax invested in ISN in July 2011, the tool distribution market was highly fragmented with no large consolidator.  Audax recognized this as an opportunity for ISN and sought to expand the Company across North America and enter adjacent product categories.

During Audax’ investment period, ISN completed eight acquisitions expanding into Canada and the United Kingdom. ISN also increased its product offering to include lifts and garage equipment and grew its portfolio of owned brands from 3% to 23% of revenue.  Through acquisitions and de novo expansion, ISN grew from six distribution centers to 18 distribution centers and 9 showrooms across its geographic footprint.  Throughout the investment period, ISN was able to grow margins and continue competing effectively with the rise of internet resellers.

The Audax Difference

Audax and the ISN management team grew the Company into one of the leading independent tool and equipment distributors in North America and the United Kingdom.  During Audax’ investment, ISN nearly tripled revenue to over $410 million.

Bruce Weber, CEO, ISN, said, “Audax’ expertise in helping us execute our buy and build strategy was essential for expanding ISN’s geographic presence, sales channels, and product categories. We’re excited to retain their expertise and experience through a minority equity position going forward.”

“Bruce and the ISN team did a fantastic job driving organic growth and identifying acquisition opportunities which expanded the Company’s product depth and geographic reach.  Today, ISN is a recognized industry leader and Bruce’s vision for the business has positioned the company for future growth and success,” said Tim Mack, Managing Director, Audax Private Equity.
