Private equity activity in Massachusetts increased by 3.3 percent in 2018 compared to the previous year, with local private equity firms closing 602 deals last year.
Audax Group in Boston was the top performing PE firm in 2018 with 85 deals closed. Audax Group also closed its sixth fund last year with $3.5 billion in commitments. The firm, which manages over $16 billion of assets across its private equity and private debt businesses, mostly targets middle-market companies in North America.
